Call for Contributions

 At its next meeting in Tokyo, Japan on 7-11 October, FIPA will start the technical work that will lead to the publication of a first batch of specification of agent technologies in October 1997. The development will be done in a sequence of steps:

  1. with this call interested companies are invited to propose agent-based applications with identification of which agent technologies are needed to implement them;
  2. at the October 1996 meeting a small number (2-3) of representative applications will be selected from those proposed and the agent technologies needed to implement them will be identified.   3. a call for proposals of agent technologies necessary to implement the selected applications will be announced at the end of the October meeting and published some time afterwards
  4. at the January 1997 meeting proposals of agent technologies will be assessed
  5. specifications will be produced at the April and October 1997 meetings.

Those interested to contribute to the process described above are invited to read the following instructions carefully:

  3. an ad-hoc group to refine the work conducted so far on applications is using the reflector: fipa.applications@info.bt.co.uk. Joining the discussions on this reflector is advisable.
  4. a draft list of agent technologies that need standardisation can be found at http://www.cselt.stet.it/fipa/yorktown/nystditems.htm
  5. an ad-hoc group to refine the work conducted so far on items needing standardisation is using the reflector: fipa_std_items@kim.cselt.stet.it. Joining the discussions on this reflector is advisable.
  6. Intention to submit one or more proposals of agent-based applications must be registered by 20 September 1996 with

  7. the registered intention must contain:
    a. name(s) of submitter(s),
    b. affiliation(s)
    c. name of contact point
    d. physical address of contact point
    d. electrical address of contact point (phone/fax)
    e. electronic address of contact point (email/www) and
    f. title of proposal
  8. registered intentions will be acknowledged with a registration number and relevant data will be posted on the FIPA home page
  9. complete proposals of agent-based applications shall be submitted in ELECTRONIC FORM (Word or html, the latter recommended) to fipa@cselt.stet.it by 30 September 1996.
  10. html files and, wherever possible, Word files converted into html will be posted on the FIPA home page
  11. 100 paper copies of sumissions shall be carried to the October meeting by proposers.
